Celebrating Women Who Inspire Us Year-Round

March may be designated Women's History Month, but frankly, celebrating the achievements and tenacity of women should be a year-round pursuit. While it's a wonderful time to delve into the stories of history-shaping individuals, true inspiration goes beyond a calendar date. It's about finding the spark within yourself, the flicker of determination that ignites your own unique path. This month, we asked our team to share the women in the public eye who inspire them. Here are some of their stories.

“I am inspired by Michelle Zauner. After recently reading her memoir "Crying in H Mart," I was deeply touched by her candid and empowering coming-of-age story. She explores identity, grief, loss and love in such a raw and honest way is very moving. She empowers me to embrace vulnerability for self-discovery and growth.” - Raisa, Associate Producer

“A shout out to my friend and fellow boy mom, Jessica Kraus, also known as houseinhabit! Her evolution from a home inspo account to independent journalism is nothing short of inspiring. From fearlessly diving into the depths of culture icon's trials and tribulations such as Britney Spears or Johnny Depp to shedding light on current political candidates and befriending them along the way, Jessica's work is both diverse and impactful. She has a knack for showcasing the human side of stories often overlooked by mainstream media.” - Toni, Sr. Event Operations Manager

“I am inspired by Mel Robbins who through her podcast brings action, comfort, and understanding to people navigating life’s challenges. I appreciate how approachable and authentically she makes difficult topics and shoots to provide a path for learning and self-actualization so people can learn in their own way, on their own time. She not only inspires me with her candor, but also helps me see the inspirational things in myself.” - Danielle, Owner & Dir. Event Operations

“I am inspired by best selling author Amy Bloom.  Her collections of short stories in particular have been on my favorite books list for years - A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You and Where the God of Love Hangs Out.  The stories are about relationships and are so beautifully written and relatable. Her most recent book, In Love, is a memoir about her husband's diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and their journey together to end his life with dignity.  Her husband asked her to write about this.  It is a heartbreaking,  emotional, and unforgettable book about an important topic that unfortunately affects too many people. This is a controversial and difficult topic and I applaud her bravery and vulnerability.” - Joyce. Sr. Manager, Business, People and Culture

“I am inspired by Olivia Amitrano - herbalist, writer, podcast host, and owner of Organic Olivia. Olivia has a blended approach to alternative medicine centered on realistic, accessible solutions for many health conditions that she has endured. I'm inspired by how caring, genuine, and relatable Olivia is. Another aspect that moves me is her very balanced approach on scientific and natural healing modalities.” - Jessica, Sales & Marketing Administrative Assistance

“I am inspired by Tiwa Ogunlesi, founder of Confident and Killing It. I had the pleasure to meet her and become friends before she launched full-time into her business and passion. She is unapologetically fabulous while still maintaining an authentic presence and sharing not only the successes but also the battles to achieving your dreams. Her aim through multimedia (podcast, IG, book, online courses, and in person workshops/ speaking) is to instill confidence in women starting at a young age and well into adulthood. She is true to her roots and highlights many fellow African female baddies. In just 4 short years her presence has skyrocketed and is such an inspiration.” - Annalee, Founder & CEO

“I am inspired by Shannon Clark, founder of Shades by Shan Cosmetics. She launched her makeup company in 2018 and it has truly skyrocketed in such a short time - making it into every JCPenney across the country and most recently became the first ever Women & Latina owned cosmetic brand to partner with Pantone for the 2024 Color of The Year. She is also the founder of the MamaBerries Foundation, a non-profit that financially supports single mothers as this is a significant piece of Shannon’s story. She is so relatable, charismatic and candid about her journey with her career and motherhood.I have had the pleasure of knowing her as she is one of my husband’s close friends from high school. She is a reminder and inspiration to me to never settle, fight for what you want, pursue your passions, and that you really can be a wildly successful mom and business woman!” - Simone, Sales Manager

“I’m inspired by Adrienne Bloch - Managing Attorney of the Fossil Fuels Program at EarthJustice. I’ve had the privilege to meet Adrienne, travel with her, and witness first hand how dedicated she is to empowering community partners in the fight for climate justice. I am in awe of her expertise, her passion, and her commitment to advancing litigation for healthier communities in the face of the immense petrochemical industry.” - Natalie, Associate Producer
