The Creative Process - Why is it so Important for Corporate Events?

Did you know that 65 percent of the population is Visual?

A visual person prefers seeing drawings, concepts, and visual representation with colors rather than with words. A visual person likes to look instead of read. Visual people understand best when using images, pictures, colors, computers and any other visual media to represent content, messages or information. That percentage means the majority of the population prefers to see visuals versus reading concepts. What are we talking about? That’s right, it’s the Creative Process!

As live events return, Bash Creative is evaluating what the corporate event industry will look like - we are corporate event planners, afterall. We have redefined virtual, introduced hybrid into our everyday lives, and miss the days of live events and in person human interaction. Throughout the Pandemic, many of us have found a large hole in what makes this industry vibrant and gratifying - and that hole is the fulfillment of seeing our concepts come to fruition. The creative process is one, if not THE most important part of developing an event into a memorable and impactful experience for your attendees. The creative process is vital to every type of event and is the key to the overall advancement and artistry of the planning process. To truly be successful in developing a creative, on brand, and memorable experience regardless of platform or location - this process should be embraced and developed in the very beginning of the event planning process. Today, we’ll dive into some key terms and steps to outline how this works. If you already know this is an area where you would like more assistance, drop us a line today

THE PROCESS

Conceptual Design: The first phase of the design process, in which the broad outlines of function and form of something are articulated. We use conceptual design to define the artistic boundaries within the event and proposed space. The conceptual design phase guides us through the storyboarding process, development and utilization of creative assets, stage concepts and final design, and correlates to the script and run of show (ROS) or timeline. Three things you need to be successful in this area of the process are:

  • CAD: Assures your event or layout is to scale, and designed within the proposed space. At Bash Creative, our Technical Director Jerry has over 20 years experience in CAD and loves showcasing abstract concepts through this medium.

  • Concept Renders: Artistic representation of the actual proposed concept or design of a specific area.

  • Final Renders: A photo-realistic representation of the final approved design of any given designed space.

Storyboarding: The art of visually showing the story or show flow through visual slides, examples, or artistic representation. This process is crucial in assisting the client with final sign-off on the proposed ROS. The process of storyboarding represents the full ROS in visual form, prior to going LIVE, and is especially helpful if you are new to corporate or hybrid events.

Creative Guidance: It is essential to have creative guidance from your Producer, Creative Team [both internal and/or external], Head Videographer, or Broadcast Producer/Technical Director. Utilizing experience throughout the creative process can save time and budget across the board in all areas, and assures your vision is executed and on time. At Bash Creative, depending on the size and scope of the event, we typically plan to have at least 40hrs of dedicated meetings to discuss creative and to ensure a successful foundation for content and technical production.

Creative Assets Development & Direction: In many cases, this area is directly tied to the internal creative team, but even they need guidance at times. Creative assets are a vital part of all events in the industry today, but especially for our clients who are innovators in their field and look to create engaging, meaningful content and experiences. Custom and thoughtfully curated backgrounds, animations, transitions, concepts, and visual representation is a must prior to and for a higher standard of execution. Experienced direction in this area does and will provide a higher quality polished product that will make your brand shine.

Script Writing & Editing: The script is the final document that addresses the flow and timing of the show. It is crucial to stay on top of the script, review for holes within the show flow, and assure all edits are visible and accounted for in the final script prior to show. Script review assures the timing for the stage portion of your event is within the allowable range set by the client or production partner, and the crew has eyes on flow for animations and transitions. This is a vital document for your Operators, Show Caller, and Technical Director.
