Collective Good: Experiences That Make a Lasting (and Green) Impact

Successful event producers do more than plan logistics – they create communities that keep attendees engaged before, during, and long after the event.

At Bash Creative, we get extra giddy when clients opt to add an additional layer of employee impact or a collective giveback component to an event.  Whether it is a mid-day mindfulness track or a local community improvement activity, there are a range of ways to engage an audience at a corporate event. Today on the blog, we showcase some of our favorite tailored initiatives that create a lasting impact.

Employee Engagement

  • Curated Gift Box - WFH is the new norm and we are constantly looking for innovative ways to reward and excite WFHers with sustainable goods that fit into their home environment and lifestyles. We love gift experts like Gifts For Good who provide conscious gifts directly supporting non-profits around the world.

  • Mental Health Check in - Cultivate a healthy workplace and empower your employees with the resources they need to sleep better, stress less, and build resilience to face all the challenges life can bring. Weaving in a 20 minute meditation session during a conference or multi-day internal SKO, shows the team that their leaders are committed to building a healthy and safe work culture.

  • Surprise and Delight - Have some good, old-fashioned fun! We love recommending a pop up entertainer to provide a memorable moment that wows the team. One of our favorites, Robert Strong, is a comedy magician who loves to make custom moments happen and especially enjoys tailoring his show to a client’s needs. Reach out to connect with us and learn more about other preferred entertainment partners.

  • Personal Favorites Collection - Bash Creative has curated dynamic, virtual activities for our clients such as:

    • Collaborative employee virtual cookbooks where attendees submit their favorite recipes and photos from their culture or travels.

    • Team playlists where employees can submit songs to pump up their colleagues throughout the week.

Utilizing platforms like Google Slides or Spotify allows for teams to create connections across the globe with a low lift on planners.

Cultivate Community

  • Save the Planet - There are fun and purposeful ways to restore our earth as a team or individual. Take a peek at our past Earth Day initiatives that benefit the community while connecting teammates globally.

  • Eat Local - Foodies unite! Create a channel on an internal communication system for employees to share their favorite local culinary experiences. Instead of categories like sides, mains, or apps, get specific with falafel, pho, taco truck, latte art, street meat, boba, etc. to encourage diversity and start a global conversation from a local perspective.

    • Go the extra mile by encouraging teams to write online reviews of their favorite food establishments to help create awareness and drive support for local businesses.

Green for Good

Think ahead - Build in these resources when planning your corporate event to move toward a zero-waste initiative!

  • Reduce - Minimize local waste by gifting reusable water bottles to attendees and sourcing from an eco innovator like FloWater or Drop Water for a plastic-free hydration source throughout your event. If gifting isn’t part of your event, encourage attendees to bring their own reusable bottle. Consider passing out stickers that attendees can place on the side of their water bottle (many are proud of their water bottle collages) that include the event name and that they contributed to saving hundreds of plastic bottles while there.

  • Rehome - For a small fee, companies such as Replate or Goodr will have a big impact at your event by picking up leftover food and redistributing it to the local community facing food insecurity, so nothing goes to waste!

Brighten someone’s day by donating extra centerpieces to a local senior center.  They eagerly take these items to add a pop of color to the basic communal dining space or a little extra cheer in someone’s room.

  • Recycle - When rehoming options are exhausted, turn to a local recycling source to ensure event waste and recycling is managed in a sustainable manner.  Vendors like The Broomsmen based in Bend, Oregon are masters of the public waste recycling system and even have a sister company that creates goods for sale by repurposing plastic event waste.

  • Remind - Create an event sustainability report for your company and attendees, highlighting the commitment to eliminating event waste.

Creative ways to upgrade guest experiences while conserving resources is top of mind for corporate leaders, attendees, and event professionals looking to innovate. We have successfully implemented these and other eco-experiences and initiatives over the past several years and are proud of our efforts to make a difference.
